Bruise or birthmark at 2.5 weeks?

I just noticed this mark on my son's forearm this morning- it definitely wasn't there yesterday. I'm wondering if it could be a birthmark or if it is a bruise? I don't know what he could have hurt himself on and he doesn't react in pain when I touch it so I'm leaning towards birthmark. Not sure if birthmarks typically don't show up for 2.5 weeks though?

Bruise. Was probably sucking on his arm

My mother had 5 kids. She says it's pretty common for them to give themselves "hickies". Especially if they tend to favor a certain spot.

Yes! Pretty sure it's a hickie. Mine had one in the exact same place on her arm and I later found her sucking on it 😂

Looks like a hickie!! My LO had one just like it a couple weeks ago, I was devastated thinking it was a bruise, then caught her doing it!

Hmm hubs just suggested it could be from him sucking on his arms which he does a lot. Anyone have experience with this?
