1 week postpartum and have zero bladder control

Hal • Mom to 5 year old. Pregnant 2nd time and due on 3rd July
So I had my baby last week on July 9th and my delivery was literally a hellish experience.  At 41 weeks I started off being induced early morning after a highly uncomcomfortavle experience where the doctors broke my waters. A couple of hours later the thunderous contractions started kicking in. This is my second baby and I was also induced with my first as I was overdue. But this time the contractions felt different. Each contraction was felt in and around my bladder. I found this odd and let the nurses know. They didn't bat an eyelid.. Infact they told me the pain is different everytime. I asked to go to the bathroom twice and they gave me a bed pan. Whilst I tried to urinate i noticed I couldn't and the only liquid coming out was the fluid from my broken water. About one or two hours later I had the OB come in and check me as the contractions were coming in very slowly. They ended up putting a catheter and I emptied out more than a litre of urine. Anyhow, as the induction proceeded, I asked for an epidural. The anesthetiiologist who came in attempted four jabs into my back (absolutely horrifying experience) and told me she couldn't find the right spot and gave up eventually. So as battered as I was I continued with the unnatural contractions and had my baby naturally in unbearable pain about 4 hours later. I ended up with 2nd degree tears and was stitched up and rolled away to the mother and baby ward. A few hours into the delivery I was helped by a nurse and she walked me to the bathroom where I tried to urinate. Sore from the delivery and numb from the stitches I just sat the toilet and get a gush without actually having any control over pushing out from my bladder. Again, I told the nurse and she said its normal. It has now been a week since I delivered. I cannot hold my bladder for more than 30 mins. As soon as I shift positions or stand up I gush out uncontrollably. More so, the constant urination is not letting my stitches heal and they burn everytime I run to the bathroom. I saw my gp two days postpartum ands she's told me that I will likely need physio for rebuilding my pelvic floor muscles but she wouldn't recommend starting that anywhere before 3 weeks postpartum. Just wanted to ask you ladies, has anyone ever experienced anything like this? I'm totally depressed about my inability to do anything normal - even around the house - and these magical moments with my newborn are now being spent between frequent trips to the bathroom changing and washing up. Let me know if anyone experienced anything like this and how long it took for them to regain bladder control.
