Can you leave baby in another room while he sleeps?

I was told I have to stay withing site of my baby, he is 6 weeks old. I was wondering if I could take a shower while he naps or put him in his crib and be in the livingroom? I'm going insane having to hold him or be with him 24/7 , is it okay to get a shower with him in the livingroom asleep in his swing if I leave the door open?

Oops. Apparently im a failing mom cuz my daughter is left in a room alone allll the time. Lol shes also 6 weeks old but i have been doing it pretty much since she came home. Theres no point sitting there watching a baby sleep. Even if she is awake ill leave her in her rock and play while i put away laundry or go take a shower. Whatever you feel is okay, is OKAY! dont listen to other people. (Unless its a doctor, in which case thats probably in your best interest to listen lol)

Of course Hun. If he's in the swing just have him buckled or you can put him in his bed to sleep so you know he's safe . Whenever you need a break or need to get things done just put him in a safe place .

He's in his room right now. I'm trying to take a nap myself. He slept in his room since night 1. We used a baby monitor till he could roll over-- and now only when we're working on tbe house or are outside. Whoever told you that seems a little paranoid.

I do. I was never told  you have to stay close by 24/7. I take showers once she's about 30 minutes in her nap so then I have about 1hr 30 min to get stuff done. I just bring the baby monitor with me.

Lmao well anyone who tells me that can kiss my ass. I leave my baby in his crib all the time when hes sleeping to go do something or spend time with my hubby. I have no problem putting him in his jumper so I can do some housework. Id go insane if I had to hold him 24/7. You dont HAVE to do anything other than Feed, change and love them.

I think they just tell you that in the hospital, so incase someone walks in your room while you're in the bathroom or something they can't just take your baby. Of course you can leave your baby in a different room in your own house. Especially at 6 weeks, I think that's plenty long enough. If you're uncomfortable, use a baby monitor.
