Photo advice from a photog
Here's some quick tips to photograph your baby:
Find your brightest window, place a big blanket on a surface where lots of soft light falls (not direct light). Use pillows to do a slight prop, try baby on her tummy (facing you) or side. Or, shoot from above straight down.
Try to use a little zoom, it is flattering on faces. Try to fill the frame with the blanket so it's not distracting with background stuff.
Use your portrait setting. If blurry, you need a brighter scene. Do not use flash.
If you're more advanced, use Aperture Mode and use the lowest number available. Use ISO if pics are blurry (boost shutter speed) or get a brighter scene.
Lots of poses on pinterest.
Do NOT do poses that risk your babys neck or head - most of those adorable beautiful shots where the head is propped up (ie in their hands) is with photoshop! Do not, never ever, try to do a cute pose that seems unstable or unsafe.
Have someone hold a toy over the camera if she'll look for it.
Put your camera on multiple photos so you can take many pics in a row to try to get that perfect moment or look.
Turn up the heat if nudie.
You can also swaddle into a little ball. That's safe and adorable. You can also get the details: eyelashes, feet, mouth.
This is basic information for novice photogs. Nothing crazy :)
Or: hire a photog. We're worth it. We work hard and the price always considers the time spent prepping, and of course editing, as well as hard earned experience.
