Diaphragms???

Can you girls give me some help? How effective are they and who has one? I would really like to use non-hormonal BC but don't want to freak out every month because my cycles are slightly irregular. Some times I ovulate on time sometimes I don't. I don't I really don't want children right now. My husband and I use spermicide and condoms. I was told their the least effective by my Obgyn. The internet says they can be as effective as the pill if used together. And I would think a diaphragm and spermicide and condoms would be good right? I really don't like the idea of a iud. I have heard horrible things. Help please thanks!!
