starting birth control?

ive already had sex and each time we've used condoms with spermicide. so far, no problems - but im paranoid and i want to make sure.

i want to go on birth control. after a bit of research, im considering the pill, the shot, or the implant. i like the sound of a more permanent form of birth control, but if ive never tried any birth control, should i start slow with the pill?

any advice? side effects youve experienced? 😊

I've been on all three! I was on the pill first then the implant and now the depo. The pill is a good starting place, I had no side effects but you need to be 100% sure that you can take them every day at the same time and not miss any. The implant was a horror story for me but I would never let anyone not go on it because it's very effective and it's long term. The shot im on now and I'm loving. It's whatever works for you. The shot you can get one and if it isn't working you don't have to get the next one so you'll only be on it for 13 weeks. The implant some doctors say has to be in for a year so if it's going badly it's not too great. Contraception works different for everyone. X

Nexplanon!! If you get weird periods or heavy bleeding you can get a pill to fix it. Also, it's one procedure and you don't have to worry about it for 3 years. Depo was hell honestly but everyone is different

In my opinion the shot is the best. I've been on it for 3 years. Me and my partner during that time haven't used condoms and so far, I still have no baby. Ask your doctor what they think is best. The only 2 things that come with depo is you either have your period constantly or you don't at all. Or you gain a lot of weight or lose a lot

side effects differ for everyone, just discuss the options with your doctor to see what fits your life best. Eg if you smoke, the pill may not be for you etc

So I'm 19 and a virgin.. I just started birth control pills 4 days ago. The first time I have ever taken anything birth control related. I have had no side effects and am very happy with my decision. :) I have always heard about crazy side effects with the pill but it's not always true for everybody!
