IUD experiences ??

I am 18 years old and will being going on birth control for the first time, hormones and weight gain associated with the pill just doesn't sound like something I want to experience. After doing research on both the hormonal and copper IDU's I wanted to come on here and see what you ladies have experienced with ether one. Which one in your openion has worked out the best ?
