Donating the life in prisons organs?

Question

If they're already in prison, facing life in prison why not give their organs to the innocent people that are needing help? I'm saying that these inmates must consent, and be healthy enough to donate but if they're willing why not? I'm not trying to be morbid but it's almost like a way for them to repay society.

What are your thoughts? Please no rude comments, I'm curious as if anyone else has thought about this?

If they have a healthy body, no diseases or something they can transfer to the donors body. Why the heck not? They'll at least do something right before they die

I wouldn't be okay with plucking someone's organs while alive... But do you mean prisoners can't donate organs, at all? That is kinda crazy! We donated as much as we could from my uncles body when he suddenly passed, and we couldn't believe how long people waited for it.

Do you mean if they're getting the death penalty? As long as they consent, then sure. I am not about taking anyone's organs without their permission.

I can see that going bad in so many ways. The state or owners of the prison will have to be responsible for the cost of care related to the surgery. That could easily be turned into a bidding war over who would be willing to cover the costs.

Plus there is a risk of contracting hep c and other diseases that take months to come up positive.

I might be wrong but I would say most prisoners aren't that healthy. Due to a life of drugs and alcohol along with crime.

I might be a horrible person for saying this but I'll do it anyway. Personally I think if there is someone serving life sentence plus some, then instead of me paying for them to have a place to live and eat after they broke the law, we should use them as test subjects. Now I'm not saying torture these people, I'm simply saying instead of testing products on inossant animals and hope us humans have the same reaction, why not use the prisoners that are going to root in a jail sell anyway. And yes they should be able to donate if proper test are done to confirm there is no passing of anything.

Adding to that I wonder if there's any programmes set up where they can donate blood? You can do it every month and I'm sure there are tonnes of people who would like to do that, these days being a prisoner does not equate to being a bad person in most cases because of the law and 'justice' system.

I say yes, but it's hard to tell sometimes because you never know what's been shared/screwed/contracted in prison. And if they die of old age, their organs might not be worth it. If they have a history of smoking (despite the length of time in prison) might not be worth it. If they died from being injected, definitely not worth it. If they have a history of drug abuse or needle sharing N (nobody would know really), wouldn't be worth it. I think the reason they Don't is because there are so many factors and a lot of money that would be involved in testing for those things. And they aren't taken the best care of in there. Tissue donation may be different though (eyes, bones, marrow etc) but that all depends on your state. Organs typically only get donated when a healthy person is in a traumatic accident..which could certainly happen in prison but is less likely than dying of disease, old age, or natural causes. Idk though!

honestly if someone is in prison for life then they must've done something pretty freaking terrible and I would not want their organs in my body.
