UK drivers?

Question

Hi guys. i am looking to insure my first car but you can imagine what the annual prices are like! The cheapest company that I have found so far is based on fitting a black box in my car. ( I am not very keen on that though)
Does anyone recommend any decent priced insurance companies that do not have the black box system? 
Would be really grateful if someone could help

Try money supermarket. I wouldn't have a black box if u can help it because even though your insurance will be lower if you don't drive well it could also make it go up. I find Hastings direct quite cheap x

I had to pay £3700 for my first year on my car and that was the cheapest on go compare. Luckily this year it went right down to £2000.

Maybe I should have brought a second hand car :/

When I got my first car I registered it as belonging to my dad and insured it under him with me as an additional driver. Was A LOT cheaper. The next car was registered as mine but with him as an additional driver and was still cheaper than just insuring myself. Try adding an experienced driver, it may bring the cost down!

This is the exact thread I've been looking for!! I feel like I'm being discriminated because I don't work due to my health, I have a 1 year restricted licence & I don't own my home. The cheapest I've ever found is £170 a month & that's after I've paid the first payment of £250. I'm so stressed over it & feel like packing in my lessons but I've spent a fortune in the last month, which has been hard being on benefits with 3 young kids. I can understand but I'm almost 27, married & I'm very careful at driving. I'm hardly some boy racer who lives in a dodgy area. Aghhhh I'm so stressed & angry over it all x
