Wanting to start a family young?
My boyfriend and I are in college (about to start as juniors, ages 18&21). We are both big believers in marriage and very eager to be parents - it was the main goal in life for both of us before we met. I grew up in a very conservative old-fashioned town and while I don't subscribe to a religion, I do still live by some of the values (such as marrying young and for life, and that have a family is the highest calling). Our parents are very supportive and eager for us to get married. We're certainly not rich - we both work part-time as waiters but I have a pretty successful side hustle that is growing rapidly and will only earn more with time. We wouldn't be able to afford a lot, but a wedding and rent and modest living costs wouldn't be a stretch. We both come from incredibly poor families...for us, the American Dream is simply food on the table and a fixer upper house.
We want kids so bad...he and I both get very broody when we see little kids in stores or on Facebook. I'm so eager to get married next year, have kids in about 3 years. My question is, are our crazy broody feelings just hormonal, or should we make a beeline for our dream? When I see 12-15 year olds on Glow talking about TTC...it seems ridiculous to me, and I find myself thinking "hormones can do crazy things"...and then, "What if I'm just hormonal and I don't genuinely want a family yet?" And am I romanticizing married life and rushing into it?
