We were together 6 years, broke up at the beginning of May, July 15th he said he wants to work things out. My bday is today and he texted me at 12:30am to say happy bday. I guess he woke up and thought about me so he texted, he was the first one to say happy bday. Also, he is currently 2 hours away for work.

He undid an engagement and had you rent an apartment and niw uou think it's cute he texted on your bday at midnight to be the first person? That's what new boyfriends do. If he wants to revert back to being a new boyfriend then yes, it's sweet. If you want him to work thru the shit he needs to so you guys are back on track then it's meaningless.
