Stupid question

This might be a very stupid question but it's never happened: I had sex and skipped my last period but I took a test and it was negative but for symptoms of pregnancy and I was going to take another test but I just got my period but does that mean I could still be pregnant or not because I wasn't sure if you got your period when you were pregnant
