What an anterior Cervix????

Question

So I had my dr appt. I'm 37 weeks. She checked my cervix, she said can feel my baby head but my cervix is still closed for business. She also said I had anterior cervix, that she didn't need to put her fingers too far because my cervix was right there.

I'm still not sure what anterior cervix really means.
I know  everyone women have different size of uterus and their positions are different like tilted etc.

I'm trying understand what is anterior cervix and the reasoning of that position?

Just means your body is doing what it's supposed to, and preparing...good luck!

It just means that your cervix is in the front. For most of your pregnancy it will be posterior, behind the baby's head. When you go into labor, part of it's job will already be done! Unfortunately there isn't really any relevance to dilation, effacement, or how soon labor will some. My cervix was posterior through my water breaking and 8 hours of active labor, until literally 20 minutes before pushing. It's all a guessing game! Good luck!
