IS HCG ALWAYS IN THE BODY?

Question

I'm asking because I thought HCG was only present when pregnant. Therefore HCG should be at 0 if not pregnant. Anything about 0 should mean that there was or is a pregnancy whether it's viable or not. Right ??
No research just guessing. Inform me if I'm wrong please. I'm very curious

Anything 5 and above is considered pregnant. I had a blood test done a few months ago after missing two periods and my HCG came back at 3. My doctor said that I wasn't pregnant and my period started a few weeks later.

Hsg is almost always present. anything under 5 in a Non pregnant Woman. When I had a early MC, they did blood work to make sure my levels were dropping. it went down to 3.
