What would you do?

We are pregnant with our second baby. We have a daughter and this little one is a boy. My MIL says no way I should have a shower. Only for first baby. Which I do understand. Plus we saved most of the big items and they are all gender neutral so we will be fine. On the other hand my mom says I should absolutely have a shower since he is a boy. She says she wants to throw me one. But I don't really know what to think. Is it weird to have another?

I would let your mother throw a shower. She could call it a sprinkle and make it clear you don't need much just diapers, wipes and cute clothes to sprinkle your boy! Mainly you want to get together to celebrate this new life coming into the world!

How old is the girl? Either way they're opposite sex so u should at least have a small gathering. I mean MIL can always choose not to come if she's that much against it.

I agree with the sprinkle! I understand I guess not asking for new car seats and things of the like. But a shower is also to celebrate baby's upcoming arrival! Especially with lower income families. 
MIL sounds bitter LOL she doesn't *have* to come.

Have a diaper party if you feel uncomfortable having another baby shower, a little party and these are common in multiple pregnancy's. It's a fun way to get everyone together and get diapers for the new baby. It could be as simple as a bbq.

I don't think it's weird to have another. People always act like a shower is only an opportunity to get gifts for baby but you know what else it is? A chance for your friends and family to celebrate with you! They want to see you and your bump. They are excited for you! I say have one and either specify, no big gifts only clothes and toys/books, or no gifts at all, or please consider donating to a local charity or so that helps babies (you pick). I definitely think you should have a shower though.

What about a meet and greet instead after he's born? People typically still brings gifts to these kinds of parties, they aren't so much filled with games as its more a brunch or back yard BBQ and a chance for everyone to meet him.

I'm pregnant with my second and my first is only 8 months old and I'm having another shower, I'm throwing it for myself. I feel like a shower celebrates the baby, it's not for the gifts like everyone thinks. I find out the gender in two days and even if it's a girl I don't expect people to bring anything, I'm not having a registry just a diaper raffle at the party to help with the diaper supply!

My first was a boy and my second was a girl, my husbands family had all kinds of things to say about me having another baby shower. I didnt think it was weird at all, but apparently they did.
