Do I need a wake up call or should I still be hopeful?

I am TTC baby #1. My past 2 cycles we're 30 days, the one before that was 28, and before that was 44. I am currently on day 39. I tested on day 32 with a BFN. I did do ovulation tests but never saw a for sure surge. There were regular lighter 2nd lines. I felt like my CM was the right consistency on day 29. We did do the BD that day to be on the safe side. Is it possible to ovulate that late in my cycle? If so, when should I test again?
