Baby scares them self awake? 😟

Hello all!

So my baby girl wakes herself by looking like she is falling.

It looks like that feeling we get when we think we are falling off the bed but you aren't even at the edge.

I hope that made sense and someone understands :/

She looks like she gets so scared and her arms and legs fly in the air as if she is trying to catch herself and then wakes up, wide awake, and starts crying/screaming and almost nothing can soothe her.

Has anyone else experienced this with their baby?

The much hated startle reflex... And another reason my babies are tummy sleepers from 5 weeks forward.

This is soo normal! My daughter does this all the time. If they were able sleep on their tummies this wouldn't happen or if they are swaddled it won't happen either. I read about this in what to except the first year. I think within a few months it stops

It's the startle reflex. My friend's baby hated being swaddled too so she got a woombie - it's a sleep sack but they can have their arms up by their head. She said it really helped with the startling. For my little guy I found the swaddleme sleep sacks to be the most effective, but if your baby breaks free of the Velcro ones I'd try a woombie.

My LO HATES being swaddled. She geeks out so bad! And she startles herself awake so badly! There are swaddle sacks that allow for the hands to be by the head and still keep them tight! Love to dream I think they are! I haven't tried them but have heard great things!
