Braxton Hicks????

Question

How are they different to contractions? I'm getting one every hour or so, so obviously that is different but I guess my main question is whether they are an indication of going into labour early or just nothing to worry about?

I'm only 30 weeks and 4 days. Any advice welcome as I'm starting to worry! 🙈

Thanks everyone! So pleased to have your advice! I'm going to go and have a bath then and stop worrying until they are really regular. I've had three in the last hour but sounds like you can have a spell of them and then they ease up.

I heard to get some ice cold water and hydrate! And that should help. If it's more than four an hour (I think she said four) of the really uncomfortable ones, then go in.

From what I've read (I was having some the other day), they don't do anything to change your body for labor so you shouldn't worry about them like that. But I also read if you have more (I believe it was 10 in an hour) or if you start feeling pain and cramping to get checked out immediately. I've known of women starting to get them at around 22-25 weeks and have a normal lasting pregnancy. Just watch out for them to make sure they don't progress into regular contraction. When you can time them and them be consistently apart, painful and constant, time to worry. Good luck. Hopefully they don't last long.

I saw my midwife yesterday about them as I had a few back to back on Sunday for over an hour she said anymore than 3 in 10 minutes to ring hospital. Also advised to take a warm bath and it seems to stop them 😊
