Water!?!?

Does or has anyone been giving their babies cool boiled water?? If so how long do you keep it in the bottle for?

Guys guys guys! Dont get carried away but everything you hear or read on the internet. The only reason why we doctors dont recommend plain water for babies is because we dont want the water to occupy a portion of their small stomaches, remember water has no calories so we rather recommend water with the formula for them to get adecuate nutrition unless there are other issues for example constipation, dehydration etc.
For a healthy baby to get water intoxication he would have to drink at least a couple of liters. 
If your baby is healthy most likely he doesnt need the extra water however it wont kill him if you give him some just keep in mind that is just that, zero calories.

I'm a registered dietitian. RDs strongly discourage giving babies water as it displaces formula/breast milk intake. Babies should get their fluids from formula/BM. Babies need a very large amount of vitamins and calories per pound and giving water fills their tummy with no calories or vitamins. It can compromise their growth and health if too much is given.

My mom said she used to give me water when I was a little baby. I was like MOM WTF lol our pediatrician said not to until she's eating soft foods.

My 8 yr old had water all the time, and I give my baby water as well and they're both great! I give him nursery water and he gets an oz when he does drink it, but it's not often.
