Tampon Troubles??

Question

Okay, so I'm 15 years old, and as of right now I use pads. I've used a tampon before but only once when I was swimming and when I took it out it HURT and so I just hate them, and any time I tried after that it just hurt to try and put in so I decided screw it I'm wearing a pad. But since the last time I tried, I've had sex (more than once) so I'm thinking it may be easier to use one, but I have like a strange fear of them, help??

Don't be afraid of tampons! 
If you want to try again just try a smaller one, I have also heard of people using lube to help while they are still getting used to it. 
Some people never like them, and that's okay too! I'm not a fan of tampons myself, and prefer pads and the menstrual cup.

If you take a tampon out before its at least mostly saturated, it will hurt a lot! Make sure you're using the lowest absorbency level for your period and remember that you can leave a tampon in for up to 8 hours (although if you've got a heavy flow, you'll have to change it far more often.) I used to be terrified of tampons, and I even thought something was wrong with me down there because they were so uncomfortable. Turns out, I wasn't inserting them all the way! It's so silly in retrospect but I really didn't know they had to be pushed allllll the way up. I thought you'd just put the very tip of the cartridge in and insert the cotton 😂 anyway they definitely take some getting used to but once you figure out what works for you, they're very convenient. And if you never end up liking them or being comfortable with them, there's always alternatives. :)

they always hurt the first time, girl, and if you're not comfortable with it, don't do it. you'll have plenty of time to use one! in my opinion, they're more comfortable than pads, but I was the same way you were about 2 years ago.

My mom told me she knew someone who had a tampon stuck up there and had to get it surgically removed. I think after hearing that story from her i will stick with pads!
