Virgin in College.. Scary or not?

If you're a girl (me) who is still a virgin and is entering college, this can be really scary. I'm not ashamed of being a virgin I am very proud but I also want to explore in college. How do you do this safely? How do you keep yourself safe from losing it to someone who is just trying to have a one night stand? Or how do you stay safe from rape and sexual harassment? Any advice is great!

Don't focus on the sex, just finding the right guy. I'm sure a lot will be crawling for you! And try to keep your virginity as long as you can until you do find a good guy. It's so awesome that you kept it for so long! As for the sexual harassment and rape, try to be with good friends as much as possible. Don't go places alone, etc.

your school should have a safe app & strictly no means no. if they don't have an app always let a friend know where you are & who you're with. If they don't know the person send her a nice description. & strictly no means no. I wouldn't suggest losing it in college unless you're in a relationship because after losing it you become very attached

It shouldn't be scary but often times just being a woman in this world it is. I didn't have sex until college either but honestly it wasn't something I really thought about.

As far as staying safe and preventing assault I would say to try not to walk around at night alone but if you do, stay in well lit areas. Get a small can of mace if that makes you feel safer. Also don't walk around at night with headphones on because you won't be able to hear someone approaching. Be aware of your surroundings. Always remember to lock your door.

When it comes to dating and being romantically involved there's always going to be that risk that the person isn't what you thought. If you're looking for a more serious relationship rather than casual I would say just pace yourself. You're going to meet so many new, amazing people. Fortunately, a lot of the time (not always) people in college are pretty straightforward about their intentions. People who hook up do that and they aren't afraid to say it, same for people who are looking for more serious relationships. They're using apps like tinder, bumble, Grindr, and even yik yak for that. 😂 Just be honest and make it known that you're not looking for a one night stand. Also make sure you're safe. If you want to have sex don't be afraid to get your own condoms and make the guy use one if you get to that point.

I think when you find the right person you'll know it. Any stress or anxiety about the whole thing will go away because it'll feel natural. That's how it should be.
