Vitamin D drops?

Paige • 👨‍👩‍👧‍👦
When I was in the hospital, the nurse mentioned that we needed to supplement with vitamin D drops for a breastfed baby, but never told us how much. My husband went out and got some, and they were 1000 IU. I just got to reading up on it, and apparently that's way too much! So reading into it a little more, I saw that I could take them instead to increase the amount she gets from my breastmilk, but there seems to be conflicting advice on how much I should take. For anyone that's chosen to up their amount instead of supplementing their baby, how much do you take and was it approved by the doctor?
