Is anyone else dealing with a bad lip tie and possible tongue tie? I really don't want to have it revised but nursing hurts and I don't know what to do

My son had one really bad but we got it anipped.  I had other issues with painful feeding so I can't say whether or not it helped... But he was also tongue tied so I think we made the best decision for our child.  A dear friend - who is a speech therapist - told me that it wouldn not hurt and could actually help in the long run with speech.  Good luck!

As a side note, I have been through very painful issues with nursing and have finally found a solution.  It is definitely worth it to make that experience less painful for you... It has changed my life!

Have it revised! My son had a bad upper lip and posterior tongue ties. Nursing hurt so bad I would cry and I was so ready to give up at only 3 weeks in.  We went to a pediatric dentist that our pediatrician and my lactation consultant recommend and he looked at him said he definitely had them and used a soft tissue laser that day to correct them! Took all of about 5 min. He nursed right after and I could already tell the difference. He was a little more fussy the 2 days following and he didn't like having to do the stretches you have to do after (they keep them from healing right back the way they were). It has seriously made all the difference. My son will be 3 months on Saturday and we're still nursing. Not exclusively but we're still going.

I'd say keep trying, or just pump...My 13yo has the same thing she was the only child I had difficulty nursing, it got so bad she stopped gaining weight & I gave up trying. I wish I knew more back then. Our pediatrician at the time was no help. I've since come to realize that this is quite common & there are still a lot of people in the dark that it's difficult for the baby to latch on with a lip/tongue tie.
