Cervix check 36 weeks

So i had my first cervical exam today (10 hours ago) and doc said I'm not dilated. I've been having pretty intense cramping since.. When I got home I went to the bathroom and wiped and there was definitely a good chunk  of my mucus plug in there. Just wondering if anyone else has had the same experience or any input on to when the cramping should calm down a little bit.
