Still having pain!! Help

I had stitches after having my baby and it felt like I ripped them the doctor checked said everything looked fine at my 6 week PP appointment. Well now 4 months PP if I don't take a few stool softeners it hurts to have a bowel movement. It hurts during and it burns afterwards and I don't know how to fix it or soothe it or if I should call my regular doctor or gynecologist... I have never had this issue before pregnancy or during pregnancy it just started after birth.
