Should I tell my doctor or is it fine?

My heartbeat seems irregular. It's especially noticeable during my random pounding/racing-heart episodes (they happen without any apparent reason, like when I'm lying down watching a movie, and not even during an exciting part). But the irregular beat happens even when it's calm. My heartbeat will be consistent for a few beats and then seem to skip a few. Is this something I should ask about at my next appointment, or is it a normal pregnancy thing? There are a lot of normal pregnancy things that seem crazy until I talk to the doctor/midwife.
