Breast pump and bottle question

I'm a ftm due in less than 4 weeks. Do I really need a breast pump and bottles etc? I really want to breastfeed, straight from the boob! I do understand that some women have issues establishing breastfeeding, and I'm worried if I have the pump and everything else available to me I might be tempted to "give up" before it's time and pump and feed from a bottle instead... I know it can be painful for the first couple weeks but I really want to persist! Any advice?
