I was recently diagnosed with Lupus. I don't know which type yet but I have an appt with a Rheumatologist on Jan. 5. Honestly I'm pretty scared and nervous. I already have enough chronic illinesses going on I really didn't need to add Lupus to the mix. So the moral of this topic is does any one have and pointers for me or what I can expect?

I am currently 17 and was diagnosed with systemic lupus erythematosis (SLE) last October at 16. I feel that it is different for everyone, and I am more prone to stress-related flares which caused my first flare-up. It got out of hand when I caught pneumonia mixed in with my lupus and went into septic shock as a result of that and almost lost my life. I've recovered and have now been on Prednisone for over 6 months. Stress is my main enemy, so you should find out yours by putting the pieces together. Good luck!

I've had lupus for over 15 years. The best thing is to have a great doctor that understands your specific case and does not over medicate you. Light excercise, good diet, and plenty of rest is very important. I've learned over the years what body can handle and what it can't. A variety of foods can trigger a lupus flare up, the best to do is to minimize or completely eliminate that food from your diet. Just be proactive and take what is prescribed to you. If you are in Northern California I know a couple of excellent doctors. If you get a bad vibe, find another one. Don't settle for any doctor and a rheumatologist will be following your health for many years.

I was diagnosed with systemic lupus 18 years ago when I was 15. You have to keep yourself healthy by eating the right foods and continuing to work out even if its painful. If you need any advice send me a message

My friend has go avoid foods she is sensitive to in order to control flares. There are also some foods that contribute to inflammation and it can help to avoid them but I do not know them off hand. A good google search should net you some worth while intel.

I was diagnosed when I was 15. Things will be hard and your life will change. You just need to try to keep your head up and stay strong and just know that you're not alone in this.

I was diagnosed in July. Best thing I can tell you is learn as much as you can about Lupus, and ask as many questions as you want! The more you know, the better you can control flares. Best of luck!

I am a juvenile diabetic and I am having problems with my liver and I have been lacking a period for several months now. I have first cousins that have lupus so I'm so worried that I might have it! I have a rash across my cheeks and nose with some other symptoms.
