Did you get any help from your family right after your new born was here?

Question

I feel like when my baby is here i wont know what to do. My parents live like a 40 min or 1 hr drive. Its not far but also not close and plus just like everyone else they have their duties and kids and work. Idk i feel like ill be alone the firsy days kind of scared and nervous since i will be a FTM and dont know if ill have anyone there to help me out besides my husband but dont know he will know much either. How did you make it through?

It's probably better that way honestly. I just wanted to be alone with my baby when we got home. My husband had to go to work the first day and my mom and dad were here but they would not leave me alone! I was trying to breastfeed and bond with my baby and they kept coming in the room every time she cried trying to take her away to "give me a break". I get angry just thinking about those first few days. 
From my experience and almost everyone I know, when family comes to help it pretty much just means they will come hold the baby for you. Which isn't help at all since it's the time you need to be with baby and bond and establish breastfeeding. Real help would be cleaning and doing laundry and making food but that almost never happens.

Trust me. You will be completely fine. Newborns are easy. They just sleep, nurse, sleep, nurse, sleep, nurse, and look super cute. If you have any questions about something just google it.

My mom took off a week to come stay with me, she lives 3 hours away. I thought the same thing, I'm going to need a lot of help. But honestly by the second day I felt like an expert lol I knew how to take care of my baby I knew I could do it on my own. Your confidence will grow a lot once you bring baby home 😊

This has made me a little nervous as well. We travel a lot due to my husbands work and right now, we're 2200 miles away from our family and friends 😕 They're all flying out when she's born, but it's not like they can stay. Luckily my husband is taking off 6 weeks after she's here, but I'm still nervous. Hopefully it all just comes natural to us! I'm excited though. I'm excited for my family to meet her, but I'm also excited for them all to leave so my husband and I can be alone with our baby girl.

My mom and SIL helped a lot. They helped by cleaning and cooking. My mom took baby for a walk so I could rest. My parents took me to a dentist appointment so they could keep baby during my appointment. Everyone was very respectful and always asked before coming over to make sure we were up for visitors. I feel like you shouldn't be afraid to ask for help if you want it and to say no if you don't!

My family came into town the day my daughter was born (I had a c section with 24 hrs notice so they were able to make it). They stocked up our kitchen and my mom made some meals for us. My dad stayed for a day after we got home just because his flight out wasn't until then but other than that we didn't have anyone stay to help with the baby. You learn quick. While I definitely would have appreciated help I'm also glad we got a chance to bond as a family right away and had to figure things out on our own.

I live with my boyfriends family so I'll probably get help. My problem is I'm the type of person who if I need help, I will ask for it. I like doing things on my own otherwise. I kinda feel like her mom will unintentionally be overbearing and take advantage of the fact her grandchild is right there. I really didn't want to live with them but they convinced my SO itd be best for us for the first year. Thank god he's take on a month from work so I won't have to deal with it alone lol
