How soon do you tell coworkers about your pregnancy?

First pregnancy, and I believe I'm only about 5 weeks along. My coworkers were joking about me possibly bring pregnant last week... Then, over the weekend... VOILÀ! BFP... I'm so tempted to tell them but, is it too early?

I told mine around 7 weeks. 😂 I work in a small business and all women, most who have kids. I had terrible morning sickness, and was way too excited to wait and tell. Haha

I told mine at 9 weeks mainly because my husband wanted to post our announcement. But I work primarily with women so everyone was really understanding

I told mine straight away but I work with dementia and mentally ill patients, many of them are incredibly aggressive so I've told them so I can stay away from them particular patients. and get plenty of support from them.

I told mine right away, but I work at a hospital so they'd possibly see me on the OB schedules in the course of doing their jobs.  They also don't question the random increase in bathroom runs and that sort of thing. We almost always have someone pregnant too, so I wasn't worried about any issues with being treated poorly. It's totally your choice.

The formal time to tell is the start of the 2nd trimester (when risk of miscarriage drops) but I think that's a little outdated, since I'd rather them know why I was upset if the worst happened.

I announced early. I told my boss when I was like 5 weeks because I'm very involved in a lot and I knew a lot of planning would need to happen before I'm out so I wanted to give him lots of time to work that out. I announced to everyone else in the office around 9 weeks. I was actually already showing, although mostly bloat obviously, and it was too hot to hide under a hoodie so I gave up the fight. A lot of them had suspicions already!

I was planning to wait until the second trimester but I was so sick around 8 weeks that I had to take a day off at the last minute, was getting a hard time about it, and finally just said I'm pregnant! Now everyone at work knows, and I'm ok with it. I was able switch my schedule around a little bit to work better for me, so it's worth it.

It's a personal decision though, what's right for some people doesn't work for others
