Is anyone here a registered nurse?

I have searched online but I am not getting a definite answer. My question is do nurses/registered nurses need to pick a speciality like doctors/surgeons?

For example a doctor needs to pick: Oncology, Optometry, Neurology, Pediatrics, Dentistry, Etc.

Do nurses need to choose a speciality too or can they jump from one thing to the other? Thank you.

You do not need to pick a specialty. After obtaining your license, you can apply for whatever specialty you are interested in and you will get training in that field. It's also not uncommon for nurses to go from specialty to specialty until they find what they love. I was a medsurg nurse but now I am in LD.

Its usually customary to pick a specific line of duty like my husbands gma is a retired RN specializing in iv therapy but she worked in the icu burn unit and emergency and my step mom is a retired RN specializing in nursing home my best friends mom was a RN she was the emergency room
