3 weeks old- grunting, pushing... gas?

The past few days he has been grunting a lot where his face with turn red like he's trying to poop and sometimes will cry. He does it when sleeping too. I know it's normal here and there but it seems to be happening a lot more often now. Is there anything I can do to help? Should I call his doctor? He was doing it a majority of the night last night and still now. It's like every 5-10 minutes he will grunt really hard.
