Professor/Students and Texting.

Ce

Where I live teachers/professors legally are not technically supposed to text or call their students, vice versa for the students contacting them unless it is warranted. Such as in a emergency or just needing help.

What I put up with in college was going through email and a program called BlackBoard to communicate, which was very inconvenient if you didn't have wifi. Like when you're driving to class or the school has a lock on its wifi... Now my nieces are taking courses and they are using a app that sends "texts". It doesn't always work though which causes huge problems for some students.

If you could have it your way, would uou change the law (assuming it's the same where you live) so that instructors and students could openly communicate using traditional texting/calls so long as nothing foul is going on, or would you keep it this way?
