boy trouble please help...

So I've been seeing this guy for the last few months, he's really lovely, we get along well, he's attractive and funny. The only down side is (as a teenager) he drinks a lot, nearly every weekend. anyway we go out to clubs and meet up then go home together, and we have been on a couple dates but he's been very distant lately, being blunt over text, not asking to hang out.. I got sick of it so I started to do the same thing back. I stopped replying straight away I tried to make him want me and start trying again. Im not used to being rejected like this, I'm usually the one who ends things .. But it doesn't seem to be working.. I don't know how to make him interested again... Should I want him to be interested again?
