been talking for two years... help

I have been talking to this guy for about two years. He recently messages me and we have a really good Conversation. Then out of nowhere leaves me hanging in the middle of the conversation. I messages him and he doesn't not reply but he opens it. It'd really driving me crazy. Could he be doing this on purpose? To keep me waiting him??? Help
