Is it considered creepy to look up and message someone on Facebook that you've only met/talked to in person?

This guy and I want to work together on a project. We met at his work place. (I do not work there, but am a frequent visitor) We have chatted and gotten along, really forming a good friendship just through seeing him at work. I gave him my number, but he never texted me when he said he would which makes me think the obvious if he's not interested in working together, or that he lost my number. Totally possible especially since he has children. He really seemed to have a crush on me. But I need an answer for working together, and found his Facebook profile just by one search of his first name (which we exchanged) and work place. (Wasn't trying to stalk him!) I don't want to come off creepy, but his shift changed and I haven't been able to talk to him in person. Would it be weird or stalkerish to shoot him a FB message of "Hey! I found you by searching your name and job, and was wondering if you were interested in working together or not? I apologize, but as a business owner, I need an answer."
