My boyfriend is bipolar ?

Okay I love my boyfriend but he is really bipolar and Im not saying this to bash on him because he really is he has medication for it. Most days are great but today we would get into small fights just because,,,Im pretty easy going and relaxed and he got mad at me for calling him dude? I cannot,,,But besides this we are soooo close like we are like mental twins,,,I just need advice on this please,,,thanks
