Confused

So I kinda need some advice🤔 I've been with this guy for 6 months (Derek) now and things have been going great. I've recently started college and he's getting a bit obsessive and violent. He's never hit me but he screams and yells at me and throws things across the room. He has done better since our last spat but I don't know what to do at this point. I also met this other guy in my English and I really like him (James) but he's 10 years older than me but we have so much in common and talked a little while me and Derek took a break. James is a sweet guy and has always been there for me while Derek hasn't. I love Derek but I'm tired of all the games. What should I do?
