having a miscarriage 😔

I'm 5w 2d and pretty sure I'm having a miscarriage with lots of cramps and bright red blood (and had one before in January and I just have this feeling) if I go to the early pregnancy unit is it early enough to be able to scan or how will they confirm that it is a miscarriage and what happens next? I had the tablets last time but my mum reckons I should push for a D&C. Any ideas? Ps in the UK who sound fairly rubbish compared to the US!
