when your SO is not a believer

Question

So I recently accepted Christ into my heart. But I've been engaged to a wonderful man and we are very much in love but he is not a believer. We have talked about it and he has said that he  accepts me and he will even go to church with me, but he just doesn't believe in any higher power. We have already made commitments and such to each other and while it's not right to be equally yoked it also doesn't feel right to leave someone when you ha e made promises to them.

Can anyone give me advice on how to be a loyal Christian even though he is not ?

I'll just advise you to remember the promise u made to Christ and God when you accepted him into your heart. The same way u feel it's not right to leave your man, it's also not right to leave God. 
God should be the number 1 priority in your life. It's great that he said he will not stop u from going to church and will even go with you. That's wonderful. There is alway potential for him to be won over from what he hears at church and from your good attitude and behaviour towards him. Don't try to force him, just leave him be. God himself draws people to him. He knows the hearts of people.  Keep praying for him and doing your part in God's service and things will just fall into place nicely.

The Bible says you are a new creation. Born again. The new is come and the old is passed away. 
You can still hang out with him, but Christians don't sin against God on purpose. So sex won't be an option anymore. 
I am married to a Christian and marriage is SO hard! God says not to join yourself with an unbeliever (yoke). But even marriage between Christians is so hard. Don't do it until you have a Christian who is a really good match. Beliefs lead to actions. It matters what you believe. See you in heaven!

He's not your husband so you have no ties to him. You're certainly not obligated to go through with the marriage. Marriage is hard when BOTH people are committed to Hod so I'm sure it would be harder in a marriage where the husband doesn't fall under Christ. Do not worry about him or his decision but instead focus on growing closer to God and asking him for guidance and wisdom! And welcome to the family! 🙌🏼🙌🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼 😊😊

Often Christians in this situation will look for a way out of the marriage, convinced that this is the only way to truly bring honor to God. His Word, however, says the contrary. It is very important not only to be content in our situation, but also to look for ways to bring glory to Him out of our challenging circumstances (1 Corinthians 7:17). The Bible specifically addresses those who are married to unbelievers in 1 Corinthians 7:12-14: “…If any brother has a wife who is not a believer and she is willing to live with him, he must not divorce her. And if a woman has a husband who is not a believer and he is willing to live with her, she must not divorce him. For the unbelieving husband has been sanctified through his wife, and the unbelieving wife has been sanctified through her believing husband…”

This will likely be a huge problem if your values change and his don't. Personally I'm against drugs, bars and pornography and unfortunately I married someone who claimed to agree with me and turns out he doesn't. He is also very into himself and his own wants and needs. These are all good examples of things that would be less likely to be a problem in my marriage had I married a Christian as those things are in direct contrast to our beliefs. Just something to keep in mind in case it applies to you!

The Bible says that non-believers are saved by their spouses faith. I'm not entirely sure where in the Bible it is but I remind people of this as I know people who are married to non-believers. You have made a commitment to him and I think it's very honourable of you to strive to keep it. Pray for him and ask God to help his faith to develop. Him going to church with you is actually a really good start so that is awesome. I believe God places us in our partners lives for a reason, hold onto that. X

I saw this first hand with my parents. First of all no marriage is perfect... that's why we strive to be more like Christ everyday. It's a daily struggle, but God is there to help guide us. 
My mom got saved in 1999. My brother, mom & I went to church & got involved in many ministries of the church. We even enrolled in the Christian school. My brother & I later got saved. My dad was in the navy & didn't understand the sudden change in our Sunday activities. He was unsaved at this point. God used our testimonies & our devotion to Him to open the eyes of my dad's heart. After almost 10 years of praying for my dad, we received a call from him when we was stationed in Washington that he was invited to Baptist church & had been attending for almost a year. My dad hear a salvation message & received Christ as his Saviour. It was amazing! 
Keep praying for your husband. In time the Lord will open & soften his heart to accept God in his time.

Have you seen the movie War Room? If not I recommend it. It is about a married couple, but can be applied to those not married as well. I would suggest honoring God above all else, because He is the one who will carry you through and bless your obedience. 💞
