Happily unmarried??

My partner and I have been together for 8 years with a 7 year old and have spent the past few years ttc #2 (finally due 7/15!) anyone have opinions on having children and growing old together unmarried?

Speaking as a married woman, nope, not at all. It's personal choice. Personally I love being married, but really happiness and stability is more important to a relationship and children than a marriage certificate.

Me and my partner are :) we've been together 14 years and now pregnant with our first. Marriage isn't in our plans, just depends on what you and your partner want.

Do what you want. Just make sure you have things in order because if one of you dies legally everything goes to your children not your boy/girl friend. Also some states do not allow bf or gf make medical decisions if you were in say a comma. If your children are minors it would go to your parents to decide what to do. Make sure you have some legal documents with all your wishes of that is what u decide to do.

I didn't really want to get married, but seeing what my brother's fiancee went through changed my mind. Because they didn't get married before he got sick, she had no legal right to him. When he died, the inheritance he left her was very complicated (to keep it short, my mother has controlled everything - she drives his car, she kept his computer and clothes and guitars. His fiancee got very little). They had been together for six years were engaged! I don't want to go through that mess if something goes wrong.

For me it's tradition and religion. I want to have a husband to love, care, take on his last name, and do what ever I wanna do with him in the bedroom without feeling regretful due to my religion. I just think marriage is a beautiful thing and shows a sense if commitment to not only each other but to the world. My opinion tho.

I didn't want to get married. I wasn't totally against it I guess. But I didn't think it was necessary. What's the point? In my opinion anyway. I saw none. My husband is very traditional, so he wanted to do things the "right way" and well, I love the bastard so I said sure. We signed papers and ate Mongolian bbq right after. It's all really a choice.

Yes, i have an opinion... It is fine if this is what you want. It might in some cases be legally easier to be married, but by no means neccesary. But if you are asking this, maybe you want us to tell you you should get married (I know some people will soon). So maybe you should take some time to figure out what you want.
