Opted into Genetic Screening....

I had to take a blood test at 12 weeks, and again at 19 last week. I got a call two days ago that my baby girl's screening came back at a 1 to 120 chance for Down's. Since I'm only 29, this was a much higher than normal number than it should've been. Of course I'd love my child no matter what the result, as soon as I got off the phone I couldn't help but bawl. It was an emotional night to say the least. Yesterday, I got the call to come in for a Level 2 ultrasound and to have genetic counseling done. Because I live in CA, the harmony blood test and ultrasound are covered by the state. After an hour of genetic counseling today, we had our ultrasound. It was wonderful to see babygirl again, and while I haven't done the blood test yet, the doctor noticed no soft markers on our US. For now, it looks like we're alright. She also confirmed for the third time that it's indeed a girl.
Definitely was an emotional two days, but I'm glad I chose to opt in. I would never let that be a reason for termination, but I do believe that had we found out differently, it gives me a better chance to be prepared.
