Second TDap in 5 weeks?

Does anyone know anything about the safety of multiple TDap vaccines? I get a call from my OB office saying their fridge broke and they can't guarantee whether or not my last shot would be effective. They want to give me another one in 2 weeks or 5 weeks total after I had the first one. They SAY it is safe for me and baby. Would you do it?

No way. Vaccines have NEVER been studied for safety during pregnancy.

I think it's safer than risking the possibility that the shot didn't work and you potentially expose your baby to the virus

I just received paperwork stating that receiving more than one during your pregnancy is not safe. I definitely wouldn't do it! There hasn't even been real study's proving whether or not it's even safe for pregnant women.

The TDAP is very safe (and highly recommended) during pregnancy, but I haven't seen enough legitimate research on "repeat TDAPs" to really know whether or not I would do it a second time...

My midwife isn't even giving me a Tdap vaccine she says the risk of a negative reaction for me and the baby isn't worth getting it now. I'll get it after I give birth, and baby will get it at 2 months as normally scheduled.

Tough choice. What if the vaccine wasn't effective the first time and somehow baby gets whooping cough because the vaccine didn't work? I personally don't think that if it wasn't safe your doctor wouldn't offer another tdap. I would call your doctors office and more thoroughly express any concerns you have and ask lots of questions. I would personally get the shot again, but I work in the medical field and would prefer to make sure baby receives what they need so they don't get sick. Good luck!

I wouldn't do it. Maybe ask another dr what they think. That shot is only needed once every 10 years.
