finally getting around to post
Finally time for an update. I was due 9/3/16 and when no progress was made and I still wasn't dilated my OB made me an appointment to come in after 41 weeks for induction. So I went in Sunday night and we started the cytotec to help soften and open my cervix... It dilated me to a finger tip. They started pitocin at 6:30 am on Monday morning and by 9:40 I was in excruciating pain. I still wasn't dilating after 7 hours and I was contracting every 1-3 minutes. That was THE worst pain of my life. I'm not sure why it was so painful for me and it was mainly really low with a lot of lower back labor as well. I felt like I was being repeatedly stabbed. The dr wasn't very happy to start my epidural after 7 hours of no progress but felt she had to for my pain. Once we started the epidural and I was able to relax I began to dilate well on my own. By midnight the dr said I was 3-4 cm and stripped my membranes. She also broke my water because the baby was in distress at times and they wanted to put a better monitor on her. By 4-5am this morning I was 8 cm (less then 10 hours with epidural). I developed a fever overnight and my temp spiked to 101.5. They started me on two different antibiotics and everything improved. Dr arrived at 7 am and since she was looking good and I was only at 9cm she decided to go ahead into her scheduled c section with another mom. After she was finished around 8-8:30 am she came to check me and said we were ready to push. I pushed for one hour and did have a small tear and need a few stitches. Everyone welcome baby!
She's already latching well but because of my fever and infection they had to take her and give her some IV antibiotics and do some bloodwork. We had to stay for a total of 48 hours due to the infection I developed in my uterus to make sure baby wasn't going to develop an infection but we've been home now since Thursday afternoon and doing great!
