Recycled in Basic??

Hey guys :) so I'm not /technically/ an army wife yet but I will be in November. My fiancé is in basic training and he's scared out of his mind that he's going to be recycled. I've never heard of it happening but he's not super fit so I'm a little concerned, especially because our wedding is supposed to be the weekend he's on leave between basic and AIT. Has anyone's SO been recycled? And how did you guys handle it?

It happens, not often but it does in cases that are pretty extreme I'd say. I went to basic training at Ft. Jackson. There was one guy who was recycled from our company. He just couldn't pass a PT test for the life of him. But before being recycled he was given ample chances to try and pass it. He was also lazy as all hell and truthfully seemed like he didn't care and didn't believe in himself. He went to extra training camp the military reference your hubby will probably hear is "fat camp". It's pretty much PT for multiple times a day and each week they get a PT test. They stay until they pass the test at the end of the week. For a maximum of 4 weeks I believe, after that it's fair game to chapter him out of the Army for PT failure. If he passes he goes to the next available class to continue training. So long as your hubby is training as he is told to and giving it 110% there is no reason he shouldn't pass it. Also he has battle buddies there who will support him if he needs extra work. Tell him to do extra sit ups/ push ups after lunch time, before bed or any free time he has. He is not set up to fail, the expectancy is not impossible to achieve, maintain, and surpass. There were many big guys in my platoon who struggled but they trained hard and passed. Don't worry too much he just has to keep pushing through it. Good luck. 😊

Not sure what that means but my husband was definitely not super fit either, like he couldn't run down the side walk with out having to stop and he made it through and graduated and is now in AIT! I'm sure your "soon to be hubby" will make it and graduate with out any issues! Stay strong!
