Growing out hair?

I'm trying to grow out my hair a little bit but it doesn't seem to be growing, does anyone know something I can do to help it grow out?

Take care of your ends! Your hair is probably growing, its just breaking off just as fast. Sleep in a satin pillow case, deep condition and make sure you get a lot of moisture and protein as well.

I'm a licensed cosmetologist, hair takes a lot of care to grow out. on average it grows about 1/2 inch a month. I would start off by staying away from as much heat as possible. so no styling tools. stay away from color, even henna. take a biotin supplement, it isn't going to dramatically grow your hair but it will leave the cuticle stronger so it prevents breakage. Also getting a light trim every 4-6 weeks helps get rid of any dead end. afraid of stylists cutting too much? simply explain you're growing it out and only want the ends, approx 5-8 cm off depending on how bad the ends are. Doing deep conditioning treatments helps condition the hair. avoid any shampoos and conditioners at drug stores, these all contain silicone in them, which leaves a wax residue on the hair and weighs it down and leads to breakage. I suggest getting a cleansing conditioner, no need for a shampoo because it replaces it. Avoid any "keratin flat iron treatments" companies especially at drugs stores love to slap keratin on a bottle and say it will help your hair. keratin is a protein your hair is made up of and if you get anything with keratin in it, I suggest buying it from a professional brand.
