Can I change my belly button piercing yet?

I got my belly button pierced at the end of July of this year. The piercer told me I could change the piercing 3 months after I got it pierced, but since it hasn't healed completely yet I decided not to. It has been taking longer to heal I'm assuming because I dance a lot (at school) and would sweat and the sweat would get into my peircing and I couldn't clean it out right after. But I think it'll heal a lot faster now because I'm on winter break so I don't have to go to school and dance. Do you think since it has been 3 months after I got it done I can change it? Or should I not risk it and wait till it's fully healed? It's almost healed though because there is only a little bit of puss each time I clean it.
