37 weeks with contractions

Im 37 weeks today and yesterday morning I had my weekly check up and the doctor told me I was 1 cm dilated and about 60-70% effaced. Well later in the day I started to feel regular contractions that started in my back and moved to my abdomen, got stronger and closer together, and nothing was relieving them. So I finally went to the hospital when they were about 8 mins apart. Well the doctor on call was horrible she barely checked me said I was completely closed and because I was 36.6 (even though I was only a few hours away from 37) I was preterm so after making me sit there for hours she sent me home. The contractions were still pretty painful when I left and went to bed. However when I woke up I didn't have them anymore but now they are starting again. I think it might be prodromal labor which is true contractions that come and go. Anyone else have this happen to them?
