What happens when you put 10w30 in your car when it needs 5w30

I know it's not related to this app at all but I know some of you are married to mechanics or maybe you yourself know this answer  and I need help and don't have anyone to ask. My dumbass self went and bought the wrong oil for my car and I'm wanting to know if it will make a difference.

5 30 is typically for lower millage cars. It's not a big deal if you put in 10 30. But if you are putting in 10 30 yourself it makes me wonder if you have a leak? Which in that case the thicker ( 10 30) oil might be best.
