So a post that I recently put up about the difference in 12 year olds now (2016) and 12 year olds when I was 12 (1990's) has bought up some interesting conversations. I was being accused of shaming girls and I promise this is not the case. Yes, back in the 90's it seemed to be a much simpler time, you had this weird bra but not a bra that you wore under a vest top that looks like it's made for grannies and threw on a t-shirt with 'kwl' on in glitter writing and wore some jeans with patches all over them and the missmatching socks paired with some lovely almost bizarre looking trainers. That was the trend, just be who you wanna be and fuck it. I totally understand that nowerdays times have changed, we have social media which we use everyday, school has become a lot harder with bullying, magazines always showing the perfect women and all that. I know times have changed I'm not dumb. I sipppse I posted it because it was just funny for all of 90's kids and also just because it is sad. We're forcing pre and teenagers to grow up at 12/13 and it's not right. Have that ugly phase where you look back in pictures and go 'shit what was I thinking' not 'yeah I loved that crop top and bodycon'. I guess what I wanted to ask the younger and possibly older generation is when you were in school or with your friends were you ever pressured to wear what they thought was acceptable? Would you be ignored or even in friended if you didn't follow the trends? If no to all of this then please elaborate. What I really want to say is that I know school is tough and secondary is the longest you'll be at one school in your life. But please don't dress or act or be someone that everyone else wants you to be. You wanna rock that my chemical romance tshirt? Go for it! You don't want to wear a tight bodycon? Good you don't have to! Just be your own person. If people don't want to be friends with you for who YOU are then they really aren't worth having in your life. Let's show the younger generation some support!
Okay so the poll goes as follows:
Yes-🐑 is the answer if you did follow the trends and everyone else (hence the sheep) and you do wear the type of clothes shown in the picture.
No-🦄 you don't care what anyone else thinks you wear what you like
Sometimes- sometimes you do follow the trends other times you don't
Bullied- is that you were either bullied for following the trend or not following the trend.
I hope we can all have an honest discussion as to why girls nowerdays have these issues and feel free to comment upon my thoughts (social media, bullying) and let me know what you think. No hateful comments please as I'm not being rude so treat me as I have treated all of you. I'll post the picture below for anyone not following me x
